Jib jab cards

Having suffered a practical joke courtesy of the 'jib jab' web site, I've since been able to have a giggle of my own with it.

The disco video is of our friends and neighbours Brooke and Derek. The Bad news is they are moving house on Tuesday, the Good news is that I get to post something like this, free from reprecussions.

When Shelley's parents, Chris and Avril visited one time, they were very impressed with the street breakdancers they saw in Boston. Well I'm delighted to say that all the practice they have put in back in Loughor Wales has paid off, as the video shows. Note the look of concentrated glee on Chris' face as he pulls off all his moves to perfection.

At Home With The Hiltons

After Toronto we drove to our good friends Heather and Kyle who had graduated in January 2008 and were now living back in their home-town of Binghamton New York. It was a wonderfully relaxing stay for 5 nights and just what the doctor ordered after the business of Toronto.

Jess with Emily and Owen, Kyle and Heather's little ones.
I don't know how I didn't manage to beat Kyle at pool, particularly given his cue handling.

C relaxing.

Owen and Emily watching the Wiggles. Owen is quite the dancer. Jess had fortunately tired of the Wiggles about 9 months ago, much to Shelley and I's delight. Unfortunately, since our stay, her appetite has been whetted for the Wiggles and we have had to start suffering them again.
Shelley and C
C standing by herself for the 1st time.

Emily was Jess' first friend at seminary, and they had a blast catching up and playing together.

Jess playing big girl games. Spice girls watch out.

Toronto Island

On our second day in Toronto we took a ferry to Toronto Island where they had a kids amusement park. Here's Jess and I on her favourite ride, The Log Flume. Shelley had a relaxing time with C watching the 2 nutters on the rides all day.
This one was definitely not fast enough for Jess.
The Toronto skyline as we were waiting to get the ferry back at 9pm having been at the park all day. Unsurprisingly Jess still wasn't tired and was still eager for action, even from a railing.

I'll offer a caption competition for this picture. Embarrassingly, the phrase "coooey!" springs to mind.
Jess loving the Roller coaster, which was just about fast enough for her.

The rollercoaster

Hello Toronto

Shelley had arranged a 2 night stop-off/ detour to Toronto on our way back from Michigan. On the way we stopped off at a 60's style diner to feed the screaming Sienna.

Here Daddy shares a finer theological point with Jessie.

Jessie is delighted as she learns the truth and accompanying liberation of 'justification by faith alone'.
Although smaller at birth than Jessie, we are convinced that C is much bigger than Jessie was at 4.5 months.
Johnny Be Good diner. The place where it's best not to count the calories.
Approaching Toronto.
Dinner in the restaurant under the CN tower. As we had taken the tram from our hotel, it was a rare occasion where Shelley and I could share a glass of wine each.
The CN tower, which some crazy German climbed up in the 80s.

Kissing the moose. There are too many insulting jokes that I can make with this, that I'll leave it at that.
Don't tell social services. Here are our 2 daughters lying down on the glass-bottomed floor of the CN tower. With my phobia of heights, I didn't hang around here for long, and let Shelley take the photo.
The pensive cutie waiting for the elevator to the bottom. It was around this point that I got told off by a CN tower employee for letting Jess do gymnastics on the queue barriers/ dividers.

Michael Miller

For the past 18 months I have been writing to a prisoner on Death Row in Georgia called Michael Miller. In the last 3 months executions have started again in this state as it was ruled that lethal injection was not inhumane. In my last letter Michael, who has been on death row for over 20 years, has told me he has dropped his appeal and put forward for his execution as he 'has given up.' Please can you pray with me that God would minister to Michael in his time of need, and that Michael would know the rest that Jesus promises and has brought for us in his crucifixion from Matthew 11.28-30.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Please also pray that the letter I have written to him today would encourage him, and enable him to hold firm in his faith to the end and that his knowledge of God's love for him and his complete forgiveness would not waiver.

Thank you

How to make a fish look bigger

On our final day I managed to finally catch a fish worth taking a photo of. It was a 14inch Large Mouthed Bass. It is the same fish in each of the 3 photos, and you can see the art of holding the catch to make it look bigger.

We were blessed with a stunning sunset on the last night.
Mark re-tells the tale of the 2 inch fish he caught earlier in the day. The log cabin where Sharie's parents kindly let us stay.

There is a big Amish population just outside Fairview, and this is how they get around to the local stores.

The B.A.B

Despite their being lots of black bears in our locality, and numerous sightings in the weeks leading up to our visit, unfortunately this bear in a cage was the only one we saw.
However, from time to time we did have the sneaking suspicion that we were being watched.

21st July - One of the Great Lakes

I'm afraid you're going to have to look at the photos from this day in rewind, due to my uploading incapabilities. A sunset from the Cook Damn Lake after a special afternoon out swimming and fishing.
Jessie went straight to the controls as soon as Mark left the seat for a spot of fishing.
Jessie and Kate eating what's left of the picnic.
The sum total of my catch for the day. At one point, whilst casting off on the beach, I managed to get the line caught on a bush on the headland. Unfortunately, Shelley saw it.
Little C having had a lovely day.
The royal wave from Sienna on her yacht. Maybe she is British after all.
The girls climbing up a huge huge sand dune, with Jessie making sure she wasn't left behind.
Half way up.
Michigan's very own Dr Doolittle.
Little Foot can be found nearby (Jessie).

Part of the Lake we visited.
As with much of this vacation, Sienna was fed on the go.
On the way to the secluded beach.
The beach which we had all to ourselves. It was heavenly. This is the same dune that Shelley and Sharie climbed to the top of, and Jessie and Kate made it 3/4 of the way up, whilst Mark and I fished.

As with all the Lakes, this had lovely warm water, and everyone had a swim apart from me. It was very shallow for a metre in and then had a good 8 ft drop. On the first video Jessie can be seen building up confidence ready for her swim. On the second video I managed to record the tail end of Jessie rolling down the entire sand dune. She duly stopped once she hit the water. I have no idea how she didn't make herself dizzy. What a great age to be.
The third video is of Jessie swimming once she hits ' the drop.'
