If you come in our house any Saturday morning, you are pretty much guaranteed to see something like this going on.

Chuck E Cheese Party
On the 18th September, Jess shared her party with Haddon (4) at Chuck E Cheese. I didn't count the kids but there were definitely a lot, around the 30 mark.
It's cake time.
And blow.
The cake was made up of about 40 cupcakes which is a great way to share them out. Here's Jess working the camera.

3 today
On 17th September Jess turned 3. It was also her first full morning of school. One of her most used presents is a small make-up set with which she spends many concentrated hours beautifying herself. She has since learnt that the forehead and end of the nose are not traditionally the best places to put make-up.

Jess' Taster Day at School
Jess on Monday 15th September, ready for her first 'taster day' of school. This was from 8-9:30 with Mumma staying in the background of the classroom.
Here is Jess with Kate, whom she goes to school with (shared journeys) every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am-12pm, though they are in different classes.
Jess' friend Avery keeps watch at the door whilst Jess walks in 'confident as Larry'. Woe Be Tide any kids that frustrate her plans for complete domination.

Early September
September started with a bang, with me being ill, then Jess who ended up in hospital for a few days to be rehydrated, all in the midst of a busy start to classes. We feel like we have caught up now, hence the opportunity to blog.
This semester I am studying Biblical Hebrew, Exegesis of Matthew, Systematic Theology 2, and doing a ministry placement at Endicott College (which takes up about 10 hours a week). Add that to family committments and lack of sleep, and you'll understand why this feels like the most demanding period of my life. Thankfully Shelley and I are managing to communicate early and well at the moment and so we feel we are getting the work:life balance right at present, and God has been merciful with no Meniere's Disease vertigo attacks (although my hearing is fluctuating).

Playing volleyball at a social for Gordon College and Endicott College students. College ministry is an absolute blast.

Every day is dress up day in our house. I'm not exactly sure which superhero this one is.

What better way to say goodbye to August than a visit to the staple of our summer outings, yep you guessed it...Russell's Orchard.

Here's my godson Alex James VanHorne. His dad Dan, holding him up, is Sienna's godfather. Tara at the back is Dan's long-suffering wife.
Nan and Pops came to visit us towards the end of August. As usual it was great to share our time and daughters with them, and the housework!

Jess on a day trip to the Children's Museum in Boston. She went up 3 storeys on this netting which made for an interesting predicament for Shelley, Nan and Pops to get her down. Unfortunately during the visit I had to study 9-5 as I was taking a class, Theology of the New Testament.

Early August
When we got back from our road trip, it was time to start Sienna on her solids. Here she is trying her first taste of baby rice. Normally babies sleep better when they start on solids, but the opposite was true of C. She is still waking about 4 to 5 times a night (only for a minute or so), which is an absolute delight now semester is in full swing.
Our local town, Hamilton, had an Explore Day for all the local kids to meet all the service force professionals in the area, and to have a play in all their vehicles. Here Jess is in a police ambulance, and is listening intently to the dangers alcohol and drug abuse...just kidding.
Here's Jess' friend Hayley, who Jess loves playing with as Hayley is 7 and enjoys dressing Jess up and applying make up on her.
C at 5 months. The hood hides it, but her hair started rapidly falling out in August. She now appears to be a chameleon, as it's changed from red to brown to blonde hairs coming through a fortnight ago, and then just this last week to have gone 'mousey brown'. My elder sister Ruth is convinced she will go blonde just like her daughter Mabel did (in a similar process). I bet that she wouldn't, and it looks like C might have come good for me in this regard this last week. When we visit England in Christmas we should have a better idea of who won the bet. The loser has to eat an earthworm, which is worse for Ruth as she is a vegetarian.

Apologies for the big delay in blogging, things have been a little hectic round here. Semester started 2 and a half weeks ago, which coincided with Jess getting ill and having to be in hospital for a few days. Since then I have been trying to catch up with school work, and some of the classes I am doing are particularly front-loaded. Also Jess turned 3 last week and started school, and we've had Sienna Dedicated at church last month. More pictures of these things to follow.
This week the weather has become decidedly colder, particularly at night, and the days more mild. This daily cold, mild pattern makes the leaves turn into incredibly beautiful colours which we expect to see start happening this week.
